Technology
What makes safe settlement and fair access to finance real - under the hood.
How it works, in brief
Coffee is verified at origin, bonded and graded at the warehouse, the buyer's payment is held, and only once the warehouse confirms receipt and quality do payment and ownership change hands together. A tamper-proof record underpins each step.

The technology lets people who have never met trade with confidence. The buyer's payment is released only once they receive coffee that matches its passport. The seller is assured the buyer's funds are committed before delivery. Funds cannot be retained or withheld by the buyer after delivery. Neither side can cheat - and neither has to take the other on trust.
Access to financing, for both sides
Sellers
A working-capital advance against a bonded lot, repaid at settlement - so a producer is not waiting months to be paid for coffee that is already in store.
Buyers
Terms and credit - for example 30, 60 or 90 days - against verified, bonded collateral and a clear record of title.
Financing is provided by qualified lenders - banks or trade-finance partners - not by the platform. The exchange makes the collateral and the record of title legible; the lending decision and the funds are theirs.
The technology layer
The two benefits above rest on a small, conservative set of building blocks. They are the enabling layer - what makes "no one can be cheated" and "both sides can borrow" real, rather than promised:
- Tamper-proof digital passports. Each lot's record cannot be quietly altered after the fact, so provenance and quality claims stay honest.
- Verified, on-chain identity. Every participant is a known, verified counterparty - not an anonymous account.
- Settlement finality. When payment and ownership change hands, the transfer is atomic and final - it cannot be reversed or double-spent.
- Tokenised title. Ownership of a bonded lot is represented as transferable title, which is what makes instant transfer - and using the lot as collateral for financing - possible.
This is the only page where the underlying technology is named directly. Everywhere else the exchange speaks in plain terms: a digital passport, payment held safely, and safe settlement. Proof of concept - no real funds, coffee or on-chain transactions.
What the record looks like
A worked example of the activity record for a single lot, from verified identity through to settlement. It shows the event types and how settlement is gated on warehouse confirmation.
Illustrative - sample data only. No real parties, prices or amounts. Each member's own activity record is private, inside their account.
